chemo #3

My mom had chemo #3 on Friday, May 9. Here is a picture of her and her buddy Paige Allred. They have a lot in common, Paiges mom made the hat and scarf that they are both wearing! cute aren't they? She felt really good on Friday, well enough to go to Jonnys soccer game for senior night. Saturday wasn't to bad either, she just had a little nausea and headaches. Sunday it got worse, but she made it to sacrament meeting then went home and had a nap. She woke up to a delicious mothers day dinner and gifts, and a homemade video. She couldn't eat much but really loved the video! Monday was probably the worst so far. She is experiencing a lot of anxiety for no reason in particular and pretty bad nausea. Today has been a little bit better. She made it around the park for a couple short walks. We are hoping that each day she will feel a little better, especially on Thursday. It's her birthday and so we hope she feels good enough to celebrate a little. Thanks again for all the love and support, it's sure helping my mom! - Tara
Here she is at chemo, with a new home made quilt pieced together that a friend made her. She loves it and it keeps her warm during chemo.

Jonnys senior night. They made it to the playoffs Jonny had a pretty cool picture in the paper the next day! We are all very proud of him.

That hat is pretty sweet looking! Loving it! Those pictures of Jonny take me back to the good ol' days! Loving the memories! Who is coaching now that Coach Cottle is principal over at Tonaquint?

Karen,
You look so beautiful in all the pictures. I especially love the ones with your short sassy hair! I think you look so good in the picture with you and that fabulous quilt too. Thank you for your positive outlook and strength! Keep on smiling and taking it a day at a time. Remember there is something good in everyday.... sometimes it is buried a little deeper and harder to find but it is there. May the warmth of the sunshine comfort and remind you of all of us who are rooting and praying for you! - Shellie Emett

Karen, I seriously bet you uplift so many people while you are at chemo. Perhaps you are the reason they are getting through it!

Karen... I just wanted to send a note to say bravo!! You will be so grateful to have this blog to look back at someday! You are such an inspiration to all of us and are truly doing us service by sharing your experiences with everyone! I love the pictures! I was horrible at taking pictures during my treatments and regret it now. The wigs look fabulous and the hats are so fun! Keep it up and know that you're in our prayers!

Karen, you don't look an ounce sick in those pictures! You definately don't look like someone who is going through chemo, or at least how I would picture them to look. You look amazing! I hope you get feeling better!

Remind your mom about diazapan....and if they haven't prescribed it for her...ask them about it. Jason would get really anxious sometimes as well for no good reason and it would help him chill back! Good luck! you're doing great!

Happy Birthday to you ... happy birthday dear Karen! I hope that it was a day filled with love and that you were feeling a little better.
The pictures of you during your chemo shows that contagious smile of yours. You mentioned at the beginning of this experience that you would not be able to help those around you like you have in the past. That all of your strength would be used to be "Karen the Kancer Killer". But I can tell that you are such a support of love and inspiration to Paige and the others that are going through this with you. I love you for that. Diane

Karen, you look great! I am sure that you feel differently, but that short hair on you looks fabulous and that is a beautiful quilt. I have to agree that your smile is so contagious. Stay strong, we are praying for you.
